I love reading aloud. I didn't realize how much I loved it until I had my first child, and I started reading to her as a tiny newborn. And then I couldn't stop. Whenever I didn't know what to do as a new mother (which was very nearly all the time), I would find a book. One I knew by heart or one that was new to my eyes. And I would tell my daughter a story. I would tell myself a story. That, I found, was something I knew how to do.
